Colin Macinnes, born 1914 and passed away in 1976 was an English
novelist best remembered today for his 'London Trilogy'. He is regarded as a
sympathetic forerunner in dealing with immigration problems in Britain. His
early books display a high standard of writing and emotion, though critics say
his later work, whilst still enjoyable, does decline somewhat in quality, almost
taking on the form of pastiches in some cases. UK editions precede and in many
cases there is no US edition. The books are collectable, early titles more so,
later ones being relatively cheap. The most desirable, and valuable, is probably
Absolute Beginners.
