Brief Biography
Cicely Mary Barker was born on 28th June 1895 in West Croydon, England, her talent as an artist became apparent at an early age and she was enrolled at the Croydon Art Society. Cicely Mary Barker is of course best remembered for her fairy illustrations which are still being reproduced today, not only in books but every other imaginable format from wrapping paper to pottery. Whilst the majority of her work is still in print, in one form or another, the original first edition books and early reprints have become much sought after.
