More Information
Clifford Henry Benn Kitchin was born in Harrogate, Yorkshire
England, on 17th October 1895. After graduating from Exeter College Oxford he
served in the army. He later went into law but a large inheritance allowed him
to give this up and pursue his first love - writing. His early efforts gained
more acclaim and praise than commercial success. During the Second World War he
stopped writing in order to teach due to a shortage of teachers. Today he
remains best known for his detective fiction though his poetry perhaps showed
more promise.
