More Information
BS Johnson, Brain Stanley, born 1933 and took his own life in
1973, was an experimental novelist and whilst somewhat forgotten by the
mainstream is still highly regarded and has something of a die-hard cult
following. Collectors are keen to acquire first editions of his novels and
consequently they do fetch reasonable sums on the open market. There were
several limited editions produced, some signed, some not. Less than half of his
work saw an American release, those that did have been duly noted in the
checklist. When applicable English editions are worth considerably more than
their US counterparts.
