More Information
Bret Easton Ellis, born 1964, is both controversial and highly
regarded. His notoriety stems from American Psycho, for which his American
publishers, Simon and Schuster, paid a $300,000 advance and then refused to go
to print after organised protests from women's groups and also from their own
female employees. He is generally regarded to be the leading light in a loose
group of lauthors known as Generation X. Three of his books have been adapted
for the cinema and met with modest success. The books are collected though none
are particularly rare. With many being paperback originals, the interest from
collectors will always be limited in terms of value. That said such an important
author to a new generation of collectors may bode well for the future. ( Brett ).
