Brendan Behan, born 1923 and died 1964, was an Irish born
playwright and author. He was involved in the troubles in Ireland from an early
age and later spent most of the war years in penal institutions because of his
activities. He is, of course, best known for Borstal Boy which is based heavily
on his experiences in a Liverpool jail and in borstal homes. The book is
regarded as an important title to modern first edition collectors so it is
sought by after by more than just collectors of this author. Whilst not exactly
rare fine copies in jacket are not easy to find and consequently attract a
premium
