Beryl Bainbridge, born 1934, is
renowned for short concise and viciously funny books. perhaps
the best known is the award winning Bottle Factory Outing,
described by Graham Greene "Outrageously funny and horrifying",
she started her career as an actress and actually appeared in a
very early episode of Coronation Street (a long running British
soap opera). Her work has attracted praise and controversy in
equal measure. The first book is by far the rarest with later
titles being relatively common.
