More Information
Albert Camus, born 1913 - 1960, was a French writer, novelist and
playwright who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1957. His work both on
paper and on stage met with huge critical success. The first editions are, of
course, now much sought after by collectors. In most cases the English editions
tended to precede their American counterparts and tend to be a little more
valuable. The books were all translated from French by a variety of translators
such as, Stuart Gilbert and Anthony Bower. Whilst his literary output was not
expansive it was extremely influential and of high quality.
