More Information
Alasdair Gray, born 28 December 1934, is a highly respected
Scottish author who has won both the Whitbread Prize and the Guardian Prize for
literature. Whilst never seen as exactly a mainstream bestseller he is well
regarded by both collectors and reader. He is a man of many talents who also
paints as well as writing plays for television and radio. For collectors, his
first novel, Lanark, is the most difficult, and expensive title. Canongate did
reissue the title in 1985 with a print run of 1,000 copies, all of which were
signed by Gray. Several of the books saw no American edition, all those that did
are duly noted and details given. In all cases, the English edition precede the
USA and are much more collectable. ( Grey )
